DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MIS–INFORMATION AND DIS–INFORMATION

By Dan Youra

MIS-INFORMATION and DIS-INFORMATION are NOT the same.

Learn the difference between MIS-information and DIS-information:

(1.)  MIS-INFORMATION is a MIS-take you make. You are  MIS-informed.  MIS-information is unintentional. You do not mean to deceive anyone. EXAMPLE: Let's say your friend is Mary. She asks you, "What time does the concert start tonight?" You are not sure when it starts or you forgot that the concert is scheduled to start at 7 PM tonight but you MIS-takenly tell Mary that the concert starts at 8 PM. When Mary arrives at 8 PM, which is the time you told her, she will have MISsed the start of the concert and the first hour of the concert. You didn't intend to give Mary the wrong starting time. You MIS-takenly gave her the wrong information. You owe Mary an apology, because you goofed.

(2.) DIS-INFORMATION is when you INTENTIONALLY deceive someone. EXAMPLE: Lets say Tony, whom you don't like, asks you, "What time does the concert start tonight?" You KNOW perfectly well that the concert starts at 7 PM but, since you think that Tony is a DIS-gusting person, you tell Tony that the concert starts at 8 PM. When Tony arrives at 8 PM, he is mad at you, because he missed the start of the concert and you deceived him. You INTENDED to deceive Tony. You think to yourself, “I showed that rat who is boss!" You don't have to apologize.

The federal government and the media are the biggest, most culpable purveyors of DIS-INFORMATION. The government and media regularly accuse citizens of DIS- and MIS-INFORMATION. At this moment, even though the government is the biggest purveyor of DIS-informarion, the Congress is preparing to pass laws to prosecute citizens for DIS-seminating DIS-INFORMATION.

Such laws, if passed, must be overturned by the Supreme Court as violations of the 1st Amendment protecting free speech. The Constitution doesn't qualify speech with an asterisk claiming that some speech is more free than others. Canada recently passed laws making it illegal and punishable to THINK certain thoughts. THINKING!!!

Regulating speech is BAD enough. Any Congressperson found voting to outlaw MIS and/or DIS-INFORMATION should be censured, prosecuted, and expelled from Congress. The misguided legislators have already passed laws outlawing HATE SPEECH. It wouldn't surprise me if some patriotic protectors of the Constitution wouldn't exercise their Rights under the 2nd Amendment to protect the 1st Amendment.

What do you think about this clash between the miscreants (a person who behaves badly or in a way that breaks the law) who want to limit Free Speech to replace the First Amendment with Controlled Speech and the patriots who are dedicated to fighting for the Free Speech that is guaranteed by the Constitution?

Proponents of Free Speech are dedicated to the principles that guide the life of Winston Smith, the protagonist in the novel 1984, who rebels against the censorship of Big Brother, the totalitarian regime that punishes its people for any independent speech or actions that it interprets as Dis-information or Mis-information directed toward Big Brother and its repressive regime.
